Favorite Resources

I consult professional resource books ALL. THE. TIME. I love, love, love awesome "teacher books," and I find them to be so refreshing and motivating. I have quite a few in my collection, but my favorites and most referenced...uh...references...can be found below. I am certainly not an expert, but these authors are, and I rely on them constantly!

The Daily Five: This book inspired me to completely revamp my teaching style, and I love using the ideas in this book and then adapting them to fit the needs of my students.

The CAFE: This is the companion to The Daily Five, and I recommend reading The CAFE many, many times before starting it in the classroom. I go back to this book constantly throughout the school year, too.

Comprehension Connections: I absolutely LOVE this book. This book has amazing, applicable ideas for your reading lessons.

Spaces & Places: Designing Classrooms for Literacy: This is an awesome book because it has tons of photos of real classrooms and gives you lots of ideas for how to set up your classroom in a functional way.
